Alpine Hut Loop in Pfunders: Scenic Hiking with Mountain Flavors

The 'Alpine Hut Trail' in Pfunders leads you through one of the most beautiful alpine landscapes in South Tyrol – some rewarding hiking experience for nature lovers and families, and anyone drawn to the peace and quiet in the mountains.

The hike begins at the small hamlet of Dun, where a gentle path takes you to your first stop: the 'Bodenalm' is to be reached in about 40 minutes. It’s an ideal place to rest and find quiet in the mountains.

From there, the trail continues along route no. 13, which gradually ascends for about an hour to meet the 'Pfunders High Trail'. Another short descent across a stream and a forest road brings you to the Gampielalm in about 15 minutes – you will have a warm welcome and you can enjoy panoramic views into the valley of Pfunders.

You can return either by following the same forest trail or taking a quieter woodland path past the 'Egger' farms. The final stretch follows the historic “Old Trail” back to the starting point in Dun.

This circular hike covers around 11.7 kilometers and includes 720 meters of elevation, making it suitable for active families and experienced hikers alike. What makes it especially attractive are the alpine huts along the way, where you can stop by and enjoy local delicacies in an authentic, rustic setting.
