Golden Autumn

Experience the Culinary Delights of Eisacktal Valley

Experience Traditional ‘Törggelen‘ in South Tyrol

At the end of the wine harvest season traditional local inns (by the name of Buschenschänke) invite for a cozy get-together. Törggelen is the traditional autumn occasion for tasting young wines, roasted chestnuts and hearty specialties – dishes consist of Schlutzkrapfen, which are a kind of ravioli filled with spinach, Knödel similar to dumplings and traditional local sausages called Hauswürste. Very popular are hikes along the chestnut path ‘Kastanienweg‘ near Brixen. And is there a better way to end your day than by a glass of new wine, gently called ‘Nuie‘?

Festivals & Markets – Celebration of Culinary Arts

In autumn there are various food festivals: The Kronplatz South Tyrolean Speck Festival and the popular bread and apple pie festival in Brixen are true highlights for gourmets. Regional producers offer their outstanding specialties, ranging from delicious apple pies to tasty South Tyrolean made smoked bacon, our unique Speck. Various farm markets and food festivals are great opportunities to discover and enjoy the great number of South Tyrolean specialties.

Hiking in the Alps: Mountain Meadows and Stunning Peaks

Autumn is a good season for hiking! You may hike in crisp mountain air and enjoy colorful nature along wide range of different varied hiking tours. While families will love the wood adventure trail in the location of Rodeneck, nature lovers are flabbergasted by the location of Fanealm, the most fascinating alpine hut village in South Tyrol. The circuit hiking trail leading from hut to hut in Pfunders Valley takes you to comfortable rest stations with spectacular views. The alpine cable cars take you to the Sonnenpark Gitschberg mountain resort or the adventure park Jochtal Valley– hiking and relaxing in all comfort and all in one!

Enjoying the Dolomites in Autumn

Autumn shows the Dolomites from their most silent and stunning side - far from the crowds in summer. Now it is time to visit the Pragser Wildsee mountain lake or admire the well-known Drei Zinnen mountain peaks. A clear view, colorful forests and calm hiking trails transform the excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage into an unforgettable authentic nature adventure experience – this is South Tyrol.
