The cute town of Bruneck will astonish you by colorful facades in cobbled streets while Brixen has a storied past as a bishop’s seat. Witness is the Baroque Cathedral and the monastery Neustift – it is pleasant to stroll along the picturesque streets. If you long for more there are Klausen and Sterzing, the medieval silver town and home of the influential Fugger family. If you want more there are Toblach and Innichen, some of the most enchanting gateway villages in the Dolomites. Still more there is the village Sand in Taufers located in Tauferer Ahrntal side Valley towered by an imposing castle. If you proceed into the valley, you can visit stunning waterfalls.

Bozen – South Tyrol’s Capital

The lively provincial capital can be visited on a full-day excursion. You comfortably reach your destination by public transport using your Südtirol Guest Pass. Stroll through the historic center and cafés. You will also find South Tyrol‘s archeological museum with the world famous mummy Ötzi – The Man from the Ice. There is more to explore – there is a fruit market and the city´s Arcades called Lauben, its boutiques and cafés as well as the Museion – Museum of Contemporary Art.

Fortresses & Castles – Immersion into History

If you love castles South Tyrol is paradise. You can visit the stunning castle Burg Taufers in Sand in Taufers or the mighty Schloss Rodenegg, well known for the mythological Iwein-frescos. Not enough – there are the Fortress Franzensfeste and the elegant Castle Velthurns. Families will also appreciate the interactive Messner Mountain Museum Ripa and Bruneck fortress. Not enough – magnificent Castle Schloss Wolfsthurn awaits by its hunting and fishing collections.

Pustertal Valley offers a number of interesting museums: you can explore old mines in the museum of Prettau or find out about wool fabric production in the VintlLodenmuseum. The Museum of Anthropology and the Museum of Pharmacy in Brixen are witnesses of South Tyrol‘s past.
